Access

Network Requirement

The cluster only accepts connections from whitelisted IPs. You must be connected through the router in the 12F or 14F lab room (SNU Bldg 301) to reach the cluster.

Connections from campus Wi-Fi, VPN, or personal hotspot will be blocked.

SSH (Command Line)

SSH is the primary way to access the cluster. You connect to the head node, and from there you can manage files and submit jobs.

Mac / Linux:

Open a terminal and run:

ssh <username>@<head-node-hostname>

Windows:

Use an SSH client such as Xshell or PuTTY.

  1. Install Xshell (or PuTTY)
  2. Create a new session with the head node hostname
  3. Enter your username and password
  4. Connect

GUI Access (TurboVNC)

If you need a graphical desktop environment (e.g. for visualization), you can use TurboVNC.

  1. Start a VNC server session on the head node
  2. Connect to it using a TurboVNC client from your PC

Warning: The head node does not have a dedicated GPU. Do not run heavy rendering or visualization tasks on it.

File Transfer

Use the Synology NAS web interface (DSM) for file transfers.

  1. Open your browser and go to https://<NAS-IP>:5001
  2. Log in with your cluster account (LDAP)
  3. Open File Station
  4. Navigate to your home directory and upload/download files

This is easier than SCP and works from any OS with a browser.
